Barrhaven South区的新路规划:Greenbank Realignment
The City is undertaking the design of a new 4-lane arterial roadway with 2-lane segregated median Bus Rapid Transit and facilities for pedestrians and cyclists along the realigned Greenbank Road corridor. The project also includes a new bridge over the Jock River, a Park and Ride facility near the southern terminus of the future transitway corridor, and design of new watermains and sewers. The project is being undertaken to provide a key transportation link for the existing and fast-growing community of Barrhaven south of the Jock River.
The City of Ottawa will soon undertake field investigations, including natural environment and archaeological studies, geotechnical and environmental investigations and surveying in your neighborhood in support of the design of this project.
For further information about this project, please visit ottawa.ca/greenbankrealignment.
What: The investigation work will involve locating underground utilities, drilling of boreholes, and obtaining soil and water samples for testing to determine future construction methods; digging shovel test pits across areas determined to retain archaeological potential; and, conducting habitat and species surveys along the future corridor, in particular near the Jock River. The investigations will be done by workers and equipment, as needed.
Why: The field investigation work will support the preliminary design of the project.
Where: At localized spots along Greenbank Road (and future realigned Greenbank Road) between Marketplace Avenue/Chapman Mills Drive in the north and Barnsdale Road in the south. Consents to Enter will be obtained for work on non-City lands.
When: The field investigation work will commence in October 2021 and could take up to eight weeks to complete. Who: Stantec Consulting Ltd. and contractor George Downing Estate Drilling will coordinate the work for the City of Ottawa.
